SEATTLE — This year's flower and garden show theme, "Once Upon a Time…Spectacular Gardens with Stories to Tell," is tickling my inner child.
Not only are there spectacular display gardens, but the child in all of us will be delighted by many of these gardens. Alice in Wonderland, Rapunzel, The Three Little Pigs and many more stories play out in the display gardens.
During Tuesday's sneak preview, it was obvious the display garden designers set the stage to dazzle and inspire us. I cannot wait until the official opening of the show so I can visit the container gardening section, sit in on some seminars, see the floral designs, and enjoy the special treat for children and the kid in every adult--the Play Garden that spotlights Charlotte's Web. Bring your miniature gardeners down to have fun with the chickens, bunnies and wormies in the compost bin, and attend a slew of kid-friendly seminars.
I am ready to attend! What will be the hottest new got-to-have tool? What special new plants are lurking in the Plant Market? I will be on the lookout for any new do-dahs and gadgets.
When the show closes its doors on Sunday, it will be time to dust off Grimm's Fairy Tales and see what kind of mischief I can get into in the garden.
