Ok, so I was waiting for the weather to quit snowing on me and warm up above 40 degrees to pot up a bunch of plants I was holding onto... when all of a sudden I turn around and realize that hey! I have two weeks to get things potted before the Arboretum Florabundance Plant Sale! Oh cripes...

Where oh where did my spring go? lol... well, obviously things I was going to pot up are simply not going to be ready, so this year I will have to rely even more heavily than usual on things I purchase from the wholesalers I work with. This isn't the end of the world, but it does make profits a little dicey. I don't mind really, but the 60/40 split the Arboretum takes out of the price I put on the plants does make pricing... interesting, lol.

Anyway, so apparently this year I get to spend the first week of sunny weather pricing and tagging and getting the plants from my sources. Nursery hopping anyone? lol... I guess that's not such a bad way to spend a sunny day :D

Oh, and for anyone interested, the Arboretum's Florabundance Plant Sale is April 25th and 26th (with the usual member's preview party Friday night the 24th). For more info, look here;

See you at the sale! ;)

Ok, the truck is full, and i am off to the sale... if anyone is visiting this wekend, give me a holler! There will be a "preview party" for members tonight, April 24th, then the show really begins tomorrow the 25th at 9am till around 5pm or so. Then Sunday the 26th it runs from 10-3:00. I'll be there most of the time, look for Green Man Gardens.

Boy I hope it's a good sale... weather looks good today, not too sunny, not too cold ;) We'll see though! Bundle up if you come, even if its sunny. The hangar tends to be on the chilly side, and funnels wind through it like a wind tunnel.

And if not, well happy gardening!

You mean to tell me that it's spring?

You could have fooled me. Good sales to you!
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

I can't be there, because I have to work, but I wanted to thank you for promoting the native plants so much. One of the worst things about working in a retail nursery is that I have to work when all the good plant sales are on!
Hope you have lots of good sales and talk to lots of people, spreading the word.

My sister and I came through Saturday morning and got some things (red huckleberries, like we needed more) at your table, but didn't stop to chat as you were surrounded. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for everyone's well wishes... it was a very good show for me! Nearly sold out of everything by the end of Sunday, had very little to pack back into my truck. Considering I am planning on being gone for one reason or another most of the summer, and most of what I have left can be planted into either my garden or one of my clients, that is a very good thing, lol.

Sorry to have missed you Genko! I would have loved to have met you and your sister! Honestly I do this sale now more for the educational stuff and for finding new clients. The Arboretum takes a 40% cut off the sticker price (which is the main reason my prices are so high there... I don't do a lot of my own propagation, so I have to buy form wholesale sources, and that means a triple mark up to make anything on them at all. With gas prices and the time factored in... I pretty much break even on a lot of it.)

Anyway, I am soooo glad it's over, lol. Now I just need to show up for the WNPS sale next week (May 8th for set-up, and May 9th for the actual sale, at the Bellevue Botanic Garden). Then I will be done with the spring sales for the year, lol.
