Hi, everyone.
It seems that creating hyperlinks has some people stumped so I hope I can clear things up for you. The steps are very simple; it sounds more complicated than it it. I know you'll quickly get the hang of making hyperlinks, which will allow others to make quick jumps to a web page simply by clicking on the hyperlink in your message. Just above the window where you type your message, you will see several boxes with different symbols in them. From the left, you'll see a B, I and U; the next one has a symbol of the earth in it. This is your Hyperlink tool. Click on it. A small window will open that says "Enter the on screen text for the Hyperlink". Type in a name for the hyperlink or enter the web page address (url), provided it isn't a long address (see note below). Click "OK". Note: if the web page address (url) is long, please choose a brief name instead. A long url address will result in side-side-scrolling in its finished form, which makes it difficult for readers with standard-sized monitors to read the posts and follow the conversation. Another small window will pop up that says "Enter the URL address to create Hyperlink to". It already includes the http:// that precedes all web pages. Type in the rest of the web page and click "OK". (tip: if you duplicate the http:// the link won't work). Finish your message and hit "Post (Reply or New Topic)". Magically (well, not really but it seems that way) your message will contain a hyperlink. Try it, you'll like it. If anyone wants to practice making hyperlinks, go ahead and do some posts in the forum, The "Help Desk. When you are done, let us know and we'll erase your practice runs.
Any questions? Post them at the Help Desk. Hyperlinks will always be inserted at the end of the message, not where the prompt is placed. Thanks, everyone! Edited by Lisa A |

Gardening requires lots of water - most of it in the form of perspiration.
