GROWING GUIDE Geographic Origin:
Garden.
Rainy Side NotesClematis 'Lasurstern' has a beautiful, clear lavender-blue color on its discoid-shaped flower. Raised at a nursery in Germany and introduced into cultivation in 1905, the vine's parentage is unknown. Blooming more than once during the growing season, this large-flowering clematis remains one of the best hybrids of these vines; it was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. The vine is tolerant of many garden soils, although I recommend providing better soil for better performance. It needs protection from wind that will damage the large flowers. The blooms are striking as cut flowers for the vase, and the handsome, perfectly round seed heads are lovely used in dried arrangements. This clematis is suitable for container growing.
