GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: Alps, Apennines, Carpathians.
Plant Group: Perennial.
Hardiness: Sunset zones: 1-10,12-24. USDA zones: 3-8.
Mature size: Height: 8 inches (20 cm). Width: 10 inches (25 cm).
Flowering period: May.
Flowering attributes: Yellow to almost white centers, and plum to burgundy petals.
Leaf attributes: Evergreen, oval, toothed gray-green leaves forming a rosette.
Growth habit: Clump forming.
Light: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Moist, humus rich, neutral soil; will also thrive in heavy moisture retentive clay.
Feeding: Side dress with compost and a complete organic fertilizer in spring.
Propagation Methods: Sow seed and keep at 64-71ºF (18-22ºC) for 2-4 weeks, then move to temperatures at 24-39ºF (-4 to +4ºC) for 4-6 weeks. | Divide in early spring.

Rainy Side Notes

I bought these from a plant sale at the end of the day. I couldn't believe these were overlooked and no one realized what a gem of a primrose these were. They have faithfully come back every year and are easy to grow in a raised bed.
