GROWING GUIDE

Geographic Origin: Eastern United States.
Plant Group: Perennial.
Hardiness: Sunset zones: 1-7, 12-17. USDA zones: 3-9
Mature size: Height: 3 feet (91 cm). Width: 1 feet (30 cm).
Flowering period: Late summer.
Flowering attributes: Scarlet red, tubular flowers on long racemes.
Leaf attributes: Bright green lance-shaped leaves.
Growth habit: Short-lived, clump forming perennial.
Light: Full sun.
Soil: A bog plant that requires lots of moisture during its growing season.
Propagation Methods: Sow seed as soon as it's ripe. | Divide in spring. | Bud cuttings in midsummer.

Rainy Side Notes

Although this is a short-lived perennial by dividing and bud cuttings you can keep it thriving in your garden. Provide plenty of moisture during our drought season. Slugs are a problem with young plants. Easily started from seed.

Good hummingbird, butterfly and bee plant.
