Fertilize with well balanced fertilizer in spring, mulch annually in the fall with compost, leaf-mold or composted manure.

Propagation Methods
Sow seed as soon as ripe, winter over in a cold frame. | Divide after flowering.

Pruning Methods
Prune old leaves in spring after new shoots make an appearance.

Rainy Side Notes

Flowers may bloom in autumn. Looks great planted with our native Polystichum munitum (western sword ferns) at the base of Viburnum trilobum (highbush cranberry) in my garden. Great foliage plant along with its winter flowers, makes this perennial a great year round plant.
