Container Water Garden

This simple water garden with just two plants, a container, water pump and a rock fountain makes quite a statement in the courtyard garden. The gentle bubbling of the fountain is very relaxing to listen to, especially if the day is stressful and you need to unwind. Sit close to this container water garden and feel the stress melt away.

The canna lily—Canna 'African Sunset'—and the rock are sitting on top of bricks to bring them up higher in the container.

A half a cup of Azolla (fairy moss) grows quickly, covering the surface of the water and hiding the bricks under water. The canna is not frost hardy for our region, so bring it inside for the winter.

The following year the canna has a beautiful new pot to grow in.
